Recently, the wildfires of Gangwon have been causing destruction and damage from anything and everything in their path. So far, there has been at least two deaths and multiple injuries due to these fires, and many have lost everything and are staying in emergency shelters set up in schools and other areas. The fire has destroyed approximately 680 acres of forest land and over a hundred homes.

It’s been reported that many well-known celebs in the Korean entertainment industry have been donating towards relief funds to help those affected by these wildfires. Among those that have donated, PSY, Lee Byung Hun and Lee Min Jung alone donated 100 million won each (the couple donated this amount together, 50 million each). Even Cube Entertainment reached out and donated 50 million won.

Jung Kyung Ho – 10 million won
Im Siwan – 20 million won
Jo Jung suk & Gummy – 30 million won
Jung Hae In (actor) – 30 million won
Yoo Byung Jae (comedian) & manager – 1 million won
Koyote – 30 million won
Cha Eunwoo (ASTRO) – 10 million won
Kim Jin Woo (WINNER) – 10 million won
Kim So Hyun (actress) – 10 million won
Chun Woo Hee (actress) – 10 million won
Narsha – 10 million won
Simon Dominic – 30 million won
Yoon Doojon (Highlight – currently serving military) – 20 million won
Kang Minhyuk (CNBLUE – currently serving military) 10 million won
Yoon Ji Sung – 10 million won
Kim Eun Sook (writer; “Descendants of the Sun,” “Goblin”) – 20 million won
Yoon Ha Rim (CEO of drama production company Hwa & Dam Pictures) – 20 million won
Kim Yoo Jung (actress) – 10 million won
Sim Hyun Seop (comedian) – 10 million won
Song Eun Yi (comedian) – 10 million won
Song Joong Ki – 30 million won
Nam Joo Hyuk – 30 million won
Jung Il Woo – 20 million won
K. Will – 20 million won
Kim Heechul (Super Junior) – 30 million won
Hyomin (T-ara) – relief supplies (water, ramen, instant rice)

IU donated 100 million won to a foundation that specifically will use hers and others’ funds for children who are victims of the wildfire (Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation). Her Netflix original series “Persona” is also being postponed (the premiere) out of respect for the national disaster.

It has been reported that Park Soo Ah (formerly known as Lizzy), Yano Shiho (Japanese model), Kim Woo Bin, Kim Ji Min (comedian), and former baseball players have also contributed towards relief efforts, as well as fans of Kang Daniel and BTS.​
